This is the world's largest corporate citizenship initiative, with business participants from more than 100 countries, including the Casino Group of France, shareholder of Grupo Exito.
What is the Global Compact?
It is a voluntary international initiative proposed by the United Nations to promote sustainable development and corporate citizenship.
It is made up of a network of companies and other stakeholders, governed by a set of values rooted in internationally accepted principles.
The purpose of the UN Global Compact is to engage private companies in the management of social and environmental challenges.

What does it mean to be part of the UN Global Compact?
As a signatory of the Global Compact, the organization undertakes to implement initiatives to comply with the 10 principles promoted by the UN, relating to the protection of human and labor rights, the environment and the fight against corruption.
In a letter sent to H.E. BAN KI-MOON, Secretary General of the UN, Gonzalo Restrepo, President of Grupo Exito, confirmed the Group's intention to support and abide by the principles of the UN Global Compact in its sphere of influence. In addition to integrating the 10 principles of this initiative as part of the Company's strategy, culture and day-to-day operations, the organization will undertake collaborative projects to advance the broader development goals of the United Nations, particularly the Millennium development goals.
The Global Compact encourages good business practices rooted in universal principles that contribute to build a more stable, equitable and inclusive global market.
