  • José Carulla founds “El Escudo Catalán”, the first Carulla in Bogotá.

  • The first Ley store is inaugurated in Barranquilla by its founder Luis Eduardo Yepes.

  • The first Exito store is opened in Medellin by its founder Gustavo Toro Quintero, selling fabric, blankets and remnants.

  • Almacen Vivero is founded in Barranquilla by Samuel Azout.

  • The charitable entity Fundación Éxito is set up.

  • Éxito lists its shares on the Medellín, Bogotá, and Occidente Stock Exchanges in Colombia.

  • Éxito entered the Venezuelan market after acquiring 10.5% stake in Cativen.

  • Exito launched the virtual store www.exito.com

  • Casino acquires a 25% stake in Almacenes Éxito.

  • Éxito acquires a controlling stake in Cadenalco.

  • A joint venture is set up with Sufinanciamiento to create the Tarjeta Exito credit card, The Éxito real estate business starts with San Pedro Plaza shopping mall in Neiva.

  • Éxito acquires Carulla Vivero, the largest supermarket operator in Colombia. Casino Group acquires a controlling stake in Almacenes Exito S.A.
  • Viajes Éxito travel agency business is launched.
  • Éxito successfully enters the international capital markets with a GDS program.

2008

  • Seguros Éxito, the companie´s insurance business is created in partnership with Suramericana de Seguros.
  • First Bodega Surtimax store is opened.
  • Exito operates directly the Gas stations business.

2009

  • The Commercial alliance between Éxito and Cafam is signed up.

2010

2010
  • Éxito Express format is born.
  • Colombian Finance Superintendence grants the merger between Almacenes Éxito and Carulla Vivero S.A.
  • Industry and Commerce Superintendence authorized Éxito – Cafam alliance. 

2011

2011

  • Almacenes Éxito becomes Disco and Devoto controlling shareholder in Uruguay.
  • The Company hires over 6,600 people who worked through service providers, among them 2,600 packers.
  • Over 114 million common shares are issued to finance Éxito Group’s international expansion and growth in Colombia.
  • Éxito Group joins UN Global Compact – the most important corporate responsibility initiative in the world.
  • Creation of Éxito Techno format for those who love technology and entertainment goods.
